Executive MBA Program
The Culverhouse College of Business Executive MBA (EMBA) Program at The University of Alabama realizes that today’s business professionals pursuing an MBA must juggle family and an ever-growing work schedule. The EMBA at UA now offers a convenient blended-instruction format for earning the MBA in two locations: Huntsville and Tuscaloosa, AL.
Our alumni call their experience in the EMBA Program life-changing, challenging, valuable and transformative. We bring together a group of highly successful managers, professionals and executives across a broad spectrum of industries and job positions for our EMBA program. Our goal is to provide the tools and opportunities to drive more success for our students, alumni, and their companies. We emphasize leadership and improving business skills to further professional and personal aspirations.
The UA EMBA offers our blended-instruction format in two locations with orientation in August in the Huntsville location and in December in the Tuscaloosa location.

In February 1984, then Dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, Dr. H.H. ‘Bill’ Mitchell, and MBA Coordinator, Ms. Gina Johnson, received UA Board of Trustees approval to create the Executive MBA Program. With approval to create the program but no funds to begin, Tim and Cathy Parker and Jack Warner became the first benefactors by donating $25,000 each to establish the Executive MBA Program. Dr. Strickland, our first MBA Director, and Ms. Johnson began recruiting the first EMBA class to enroll in fall 1985.
Our story of how we began, a great idea with strong support but no funding, resonates with so many today that are asked to do more with fewer resources. We believed in what we were doing then and so did others. We found the resources and we met the challenge of creating and growing a vibrant and important graduate program. The financial support of our first benefactors continues today in the strong support shown by our students and alumni who give back by promoting what we do and showing how it has changed their lives. That drive and spirit continue today with our faculty and staff in providing a curriculum and program that is valuable, challenging to our students, and results in a life-changing and transformative experience.

Faculty have a wealth of experience in their chosen areas. Among our faculty, you will find a great affinity for EMBA students encouraging professional growth. Drs. Strickland and Robert McLeod have taught in every TEMBA class since our inception.
